There are many resources available in each community that can help you get to Boys State.
COST:
The cost to attend the Mississippi American Legion Boys State program is $275. Payment will not be required to apply and should only be mailed once an acceptance email has been received. Payment should be made by check to the Department of Mississippi American Legion Boys State at P.O. Box 688, Jackson, MS 39205. Please include the delegate’s full name (First, Middle, Last) in the memo line. Please mail your payment before May 20th, 2024.
If the cost of attendance is concerning, first contact your local American Legion to discuss their ability to sponsor some or all of the cost. If further assistance is needed, contact local businesses or service organizations. Mississippi Boys State has an expansive network of supporters and alumni will to give support where needed. No eligible young man should be turned away based on cost. More information on sponsorship can be found to the right.
SPONSORSHIP:
The Mississippi American Legion Boys State program is a once in a lifetime opportunity because of this, cost should never prevent a student from attending our program. If program cost is a problem, there are a couple of options available in each community that can help you or your child get to Boys State.
The first and primary option for sponsorship is through your local American Legion Post. Your local American Legion post will assist delegates by covering their cost of attendance in part or in full. Should your local Post be unable to provide assistance, you may contact another Post in your region. You can find a contact list of American Legion Posts Here.
If you are unable to secure an American Legion Post sponsorship, we encourage you to reach out to the various business, churches, and civic groups within your community. Local groups are often able to provide a partial or full sponsorship. The Boys State reputation is strong across Mississippi and our Delegates have found great success in securing generous sponsorships within their local community.
